Lapa Nightlife - It is probably the most bohemian of all the neighbourhoods of Rio de Janeiro. Considered part of the city centre, the neighbourhood houses the best bars and nightclubs in Rio. It's a place where writers and poets they used to come to write about Rio. The last few years Lapa has undergone a major revival as even Cariocas (people from Rio de Janeiro) from trendy Ipanema and Leblon come here to party. In Lapa you can also dance samba along at Carioca da Gema. Mostly Friday and Saturday nights, the streets of this small neighborhood are full of people looking for good time. The bars are normally playing samba and Brazilian hip-hop. Rua da Lapa and the parallel running Rua Joaquim Silva. These two streets are a major point where mostly young people come to drink, flirt, and dance. The aroma of the exotic cocktails are mixed with the sound of samba, Lapa, it’s one of the best places to listen to authentic samba while grabbing a bite. Samba was born here around 1910, feel the rhythm of the live music and the tapping of samba steps running through your body. Lapa is also the place that many carnival events take a part.
