Rock Werchter - Werchter Rock Festival - Werchter Festival.
The reason I refer to a rock festival on this blog is simply because it has many similarities to nightlife and entertainment. Werchter festival is the best music festivals in Belgium in the village of Werchter. Is started as a one-day blues festival in 1974 and today is one of the four biggest annual rock music festivals in Europe. Like nearby festival Pukkelpop standard local bus and train travel are free with your festival ticket. Food and drinks are bought using a ticket system. Buses run to the festival site along the Haachtsesteenweg in Werchter from Leuven 15km away.
The 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007 festivals received the Arthur award for best festival in the world at International Live Music Conference (ILMC).
It can host 80.000 guests, of which 69.000 combine all four days, to add up to a total of 113.000 different attendees. Rock Werchter 2009 have host some of the best bands worldwide: Kings Of Leon, Oasis, Coldplay, The Killers, Placebo, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Kaiser Chiefs, Grace Jones, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lily Allen, The Mars Volta, Flaming Lips, Pendulum, Röyksopp, Mogwai, Fleet Foxes, Limp Bizkit, The Prodigy, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Tiga, Jason Mraz, Katy Perry, 2manyDJs, Seasick Steve, Emiliana Torrini, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Dave Matthews Band, The Streets, Amy McDonald, Elbow, Henry Rollins spoken word, and more. Everybody now is waiting for the new Rock Werchter Festival 2010.
Camping’s are located along the three main entrance road in Werchter, most of them within 1 kilometer of the festival site but some located as far as 3 kilometers away.
