For years it was the country’s biggest and busiest port, the gateway to and from the West. Shanghai has the reputation as the city that never sleeps, as China’s nightlife capital the scenery at night has to be seen and the Bund is a must. Is the most fascinate city in China, and the nightlife in Shanghai shines as brightly as its skyline. Shanghai Nightlife has become an indispensable part to people who live or travel in Shanghai. Shanghai has been a city abundant in night life since 1930s. Old Shanghai called “The Whore of Asia“ and was famous for debauchery in its gambling dens, opium joints, and nightclubs.
Shanghai Nightlife today keeps the momentum going well into the night with some of the trendiest, most happening nightspots in Asia. Bars seem to be everywhere and dance club scene now employs DJs, foreign and local, to keep the younger set raving. A night in Shanghai normally starts in a classic Chinese Tea House. Drinking a cup of tea in a traditional tea-house late in the afternoon is must. Tea Houses open 24 hours a day. Another good places to start your evening is the Huangpu Park and the Bund.
Walking along the Bund at night is a fascinating site, as the entire Pu Dong skyline is illuminated, including the Oriental Pearl TV tower and the 2nd tallest building in the world-Jin Mao Tower. 3 of the most famous nightlife spots in Shanghai is the Xintiandi, Hengshan Road and Maoming South Road:
Xin Tian Di: Is a neighborhood of old Shikumen (a type of tenement found only in Shanghai) has been saved by a restoration that turned the old stone buildings into boutiques, clubs and restaurants. Xin Tian Di will be your closest match to what Lan Kwai Fong is to Hong Kong. For me is one of the best places to hang out.
Hengshan Road: This place is better for those people who prefer reminiscence, Shanghai’s first bars were opened in Hengshan Road, and they remain more popular than those elsewhere.
Maoming South Road: Is an upwardly mobile bar street, Maoming South Road is filled with young tourists that looking for good time. Famous bars like Judystoo are still popular.
Shanghai girls: Shanghai is pretty much the same as Beijing. Discos are the best places to find girls. First you need to decide if you want a girlfriend or if you don’t have the time, if you want to find a girlfriend, then just go out on the town. Shopping, dining, and bars are filled with sexy Shanghai girls. If you don’t have time then you must go to girly-bars and KTV, where are 100s of beautiful women. But note that the bars and discos that cater to foreigners change names and locations like the wind.
